3. Function, mission, and main research fields
* Functions: Basic research, applied research, scientific services; training in natural resource exploitation and environmental protection.
*Tasks:
- Performing basic research, and applied research for technical development in sustainable exploitation and development of natural resources, and environmental protection. Proposing and implementing basic and technical production research projects funded by domestic and international organizations; Performing services on scientific and technological researchs.
- Surveying, analyzing, and assessing the environmental quality and impacts on the environment, ecological system, and natural resources.
- Performing research on the reuse of natural resources and development of green and low-carbon technology to adapt to climate change, and towards a circular economy and sustainable development.
- Research and development of technology, transfer of technological processes in natural product chemistry, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, food industry, agroforestry, fisheries, and environmental treatment.
- Developing domestic and international cooperations in scientific research and technological development, technical and technological transfers in the fields of exploitation of natural resources, and environmental protection.
- Participating in consultancy, and education for undergraduate and postgraduate students about scientific research and technological development in the fields of natural resources exploitation, environmental protection, analytical chemistry, analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, and technical and technology chemistry.
4. Some achievements
* About Science and Technology Reasearch
- Since 1999, within the framework of research projects funded by domestic and international organizations such as the Institute of Natural Products Chemistry (INPC), the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED-Vietnam), Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Trade, the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science, the International Science Foundation (IFS), the Francophone University Agency (AUF), the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Research (APN) ... we have carried out environmental quality assessment of river basins and reservoirs, mangrove forests, and coastal estuaries in Vietnam; applying mathematical models to simulate water quality changes under the impacts of natural conditions and human activities.
- The research results have been published in more than 90 articles in international journals (including more than 60 SCI/SCIE articles), more than 90 articles in domestic journals and fulltexts in national and international conferences.
* About international training and cooperation:
- We have cooperated with different research groups in France (Sorbonne University, IRD…), Singapore (National University of Singapore), Germany (Zittau International University), Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Korea, ... on scientific research and training in the field of natural resources and environment for the sustainable development.
- We have participated programs for education of undergraduate and postgraduate students, and training in Analytical Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry, and Technical and Technology Chemistry (nanomaterial synthesis from biomass waste).
*Science and Technology services:
- Consulting, analyzing and assessing environmental quality.
- Participating in consultancy, technology transfer, education for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and training in Analytical Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry, and Technical and Technology Chemistry (nanomaterial synthesis from biomass waste).
